This event was part of the Parcours Custrui series organised by the Pasquale Paoli University of Corsica, bringing entrepreneurs as speakers so that they can inspire students. I was the first entrepreneurs invited in their International Series of Seminars to speak in English.
I was invited as the Member of the EESC to share our work and the work of the EESC in the context of entrepreneurship. Being an entrepreneur myself, I was also asked to share my story and experiences.
During my speech I talked about the Human Capital, especially in Island communities. I pointed out that Entrepreneurs are the backbone of the economy and that there should be solutions and sustainability for the people not for politicians. Sustainable Islands, SMART islands, social entrepreneurship were all opportunities for economies such as Corsica.
I also discussed about new innovations and research potentials for the University in terms of the COSME and Horizon 2020 EU programmes. I further promoted INT 519 report on Entrepreneurship to exit the crisis, and the Opinion SOC/446 on female entrepreneurship which was supported up by 2 women who had heard of my work through their network. They were from Ajaccio and will look to involve the EESC in a big event they are planning in Sept/Oct 2015 with women across EU. I also talked about cooperatives and Social Entrepreneurship.
There were 65 students that attended the event and the University has asked to work with me and the EESC in the future.
The event was widely covered by the local media.
This was a great opportunity for me to transfer my experiences as a Member of the EESC on the important work that the EESC is doing with regard to Entrepreneurship.
