3rd European Congress of Small and Medium-Size Enterprises

Promotion of EESC’s initiatives on Female Entrepreneurship in Poland.

The Katowice III European Congress of Small and Medium Size Enterprises is part of tradition of European economic events. The European Congress of SME is a special and the only event of such type in Europe, which is dedicated to small and medium – size entrepreneurship. In September, Katowice became a „European Capital of SME”, being a platform of discussions of representatives of the SME sector and stakeholders. Over 1000 participants attended the conference who’s motto was “Cooperation of companies of the MSME sector in the regional, national and international dimension”.

Enterprising Women2020 Event
The topic for the breakfast briefing, was Women in Enterprise for Sustainable Growth. On behalf of the EESC I presented both the Women on Boards opinion and the Female entrepreneurship paper and the importance of both to a sustainable EU economy with growth.

Presentation of EESC Opinion on Financial Education at Reshaping the Future of Finance Child & Youth Finance International.

As president of the study group on Financial Education at the EESC I was asked to replace Mr Trias Pinto the rapporteur at this conference.

The Second Annual Child and Youth Finance International Summit & Awards Ceremony brought together children, youth and senior level representatives from across various sectors on the topic of financial inclusion and Economic Citizenship for Children and Youth.

EESC opinion on female entrepreneurship

Subject: Invitation to meet Hungarian Ministry Commissioner to discuss EESC opinion on female entrepreneurship and women on Boards

I had the pleasure of being invited and hosted by the Hungarian Ministerial Commissioner, Ms Piroska Szalai responsible for Women in the Economy in Hungary. This covers both entrepreneurship and employment. Mrs Szalai had read both opinions on female entrepreneurship and Women on Boards and wanted to discuss both in detail, as well as developing stronger links with the EESC. Mrs Szalai also wanted to present the Hungarian National Strategy for Improving Women’s Opportunities.
