Women Managers of Slovenia

Presentation of EESC opinion Women on Boards by Ms Madi Sharma

I was invited by the Slovenian Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of Professional Managers – Section of women managers to participate in their workshop of women managers. The topic of the day “Moving from Management to Boards positions” so this was the ideal opportunity to present the work of the EESC in this aspect and have a debate with the 80 female managers in the room.

International Women’s Day in Frankfurt

Ms Madi Sharma –Speaker for International Women’s Day at EWMD and Accenture.

EWMD is an international network of professional women from all areas of business, education, politics and culture. Individuals as well as Corporate Members join the network and members are found in around 40 European cities with international members in the United States, South Africa and Asia. The network comprises of nearly 900 members.

EU-India Follow-up

Participation of Ms Madi Sharma as member of the EU-India follow up group and rapporteur on EU-India FTA

The EU-India Follow-up Committee went on a 5-day mission to India in order to participate in the launching of the EU-funded project Impacts of the EU-India FTA on Human and Social Rights Issues, bringing together 9 Indian civil society organisations (CSOs) and one European research institute, in addition to the EESC. This mission follows the adoption on October 2011 of an opinion on this matter . A second goal of the mission was to meet civil society organisations (CSOs) in order to better know their situation and views on the EU-India relations, more particularly on the FTA. The mission included several field visits.

The seminar was in French and Portuguese( Brazilian) with no interpretation into English and therefore the report below is not an exact translation of the discussions. XIV BPW European Conference Empowering Women for Leadership

Participation of Ms Madi Sharma as speaker and workshop coordinator


BPW were consulted as part of the process when the EESC prepared its opinion on female entrepreneurship, as follow up to the adopted opinion I was invited to present our paper and also to conduct a workshop of overcoming barriers for female entrepreneurs.

12th Global Conference of Women Entrepreneurs Theme = Trade Liberalisation & Its Global Impact on Women Entrepreneurs

The EESC has been active in promoting EU-India civil society interactions for the last 10 years. Over the last 2 years the Committee has worked extensively in the area of the EU-India FTA and the consultation with civil society on both sides. As a result of the profile and networks gained we have continued to send EESC opinions to relevant stakeholders and networks in India to inform them of our work despite the cancellation of the official EU-India round table.
